The following instructions outline how to setup a Alta Labs network for the Smart WiFi platform. This guide assumes that your Alta Labs equipment is already operational and with a live network ready to configure for Guest WiFi. Please make sure any firewall rules, web content filters, and other security measures have been configured to interface with the platform. [ht_toggle title="Adding Gateways to your Hotspot" id="" class="" style="" ]The MAC of every access point that broadcasts the Guest WiFi must be added to your hotspot.
  1. Login to your Smart WiFi dashboard
  2. Using the navigation panel to the left, select Network> Gateways
  3. Click the Add Gateway option to the top right
    1. Select Hotspot: Select your desired hotspot
    2. Gateway Name: Enter a name for this Gateway(s)
    3. Gateway Type: Alta Labs
    4. MAC Address: Enter the MAC Address of your AP. (use the blue + icon to the right to add multiple AP MACs at once)
    5. : This is available logged into your Alta Labs dashboard after you select your desired Site under Settings > System > Advanced.
  4. Press Submit
  5. This completes the Gateway creation portion of this guide

Alta Labs Dashboard configuration

  1. Login to your Alta Labs dashboard
  2. Select your desired Site
  3. Select Settings > WiFi tab
  4. Click Add New(or Edit your existing Guest WiFi)
  5. WiFi Network Name: Smart WiFi (Or whatever you wish)
  6. Enabled: ON
  7. WiFi Security: Open
  8. Click Advanced Settings
  9. Bands: Select both
    1. Hotspot: ON
    2. NAS ID: This will be provided to you
  10. Power-User: ON
  11. Hotspot: select External
    1. Redirect URL: This will be provided to you
    2. Authorization Secret: hotspot
    3. Additional Authorized hosts/IPs: add an entry for each of the hostname entries found in the default walled garden list and any additional entries provided by support.
  12. Power-User Settings: This will be provided to you
  13. Press Save
